ha ha ha!

At CCD they were learning how God created everything, including human beings. Joe was especially intent when the teacher told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs. Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, "Joe, what is the matter?"
Joe responded, "I have pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

reaching back.....words of encouragement from Pope John Paul II

“Dear young people, do not be content with anything less than the highest ideals! Do not let yourselves be dispirited by those who are disillusioned with life and have grown deaf to the deepest and most authentic desires of the heart. The time has come to re-propose wholeheartedly to everyone this high standard of ordinary Christian living. Refuse to sell your dreams cheaply. Watch out for the dangerous ways that lead to passing joys and satisfaction. Deepen your relationship with God through prayer. Prayer spreads Divine energy. It makes us live in a new way and gives rise to a revolutionary evangelical style.”

will you follow Christ if He calls you?

Mass with the Holy Father

Our Holy Father, our Papa, came to the United States and brought with him Christ's message of hope and peace. Thirty teens from St. Martin's gathered at 5:30am on April 17th to travel to the National's stadium and participate in the Sacrifice of the Mass offered by Pope Benedict XVI. What a blessing it was for our young people to participate in this holy event!

for the needs of others

God of love whose compassion never fails,
we bring you the sufferings of the world;
the needs of the homeless,
the cries of the prisoners,
the pains of the sick and injured,
the sorrow of the bereaved,
the helplessness of the elderly and weak.
According to their needs and your great mercy,
strengthen and relieve them in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
