Leaving on Friday: We will meet at 3:00pm in the Fr. Meyer Field. We will be driving in vans and leaving promptly at 3:30pm. Please don’t be late!
Retuning on Sunday: We will return to the school cafeteria by 6:00pm on Sunday.
Cost: $75.00
What to bring:
-Yourselves
-An open heart!
-Sleeping bags (we will be sleeping on the floor)
-Pillow
-Modest, comfortable clothing with something nice to wear for Sunday Mass.
-Sports clothes: tennis shoes, tshirts and sweatshirts, etc.
-Toiletries and pajamas
-Towel and washcloth
-Camera (if you want)
-Pen
-Notebook/journal
NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS, or ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES OF ANY KIND!
Absolutely NO ipods, cell phones, watches, computers, and anything else that you can think of that’s electronic, makes noise and wouldn’t be appropriate for a retreat.

Girls' Day Out!
Just for Girls! This Sunday, November 16th our high school girls will be traveling to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for exploration and Sunday Mass. We will also be cooking dinner together and watching a movie.

Leadership Retreat in the Mountains
This past weekend our leadership team headed for the mountains and three day adventure with Jesus. We prayed together; cooked meals together; went hiking and sat around a bonfire looking up at all of the beautiful stars. On the second night of our retreat we had a beautiful Eucharistic procession in the woods to a small chapel where we exposed the Blessed Sacrament and had all night adoration. We praise God for the opportunity to spend time with Him in silence and that He chose us to serve Him in youth ministry. Please continue to pray for us and all of the teens at our parish.

A Walk to Remember
On Saturday, May 17th, 24 pilgrims walked to St. Mary's church in Rockville, to ask our Lady's intercession for the pilgrimage to Sydney, Australia that we are preparing for in July. We had a wonderful time carrying our seven foot cross down busy 355. Our group provided witness to the hundreds of people who drove by in cars, several waving and honking.One of our members also made a large styrofoam rosary which father blessed when we arrived.
Once at St. Mary's we participated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass where we prayed for friends, family, our parish, and all the suffering in the world.
At the beginning of the trip, each pilgrim shared petitions and names of their friends and loved ones for whom they walked and prayed. Of course, a true youth group activity wouldn't be complete without lunch and football.

Mass with the Holy Father
Our Holy Father, our Papa, came to the United States and brought with him Christ's message of hope and peace. Thirty teens from St. Martin's gathered at 5:30am on April 17th to travel to the National's stadium and participate in the Sacrifice of the Mass offered by Pope Benedict XVI. What a blessing it was for our young people to participate in this holy event!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico
Are you familiar with the story of San Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe?

If not, here's the "reader's digest" version......long ago, Our Lady appeared several times to San Juan Diego on a little hill in Mexico with a request. She longed for a chapel to be built there. She wanted a holy place where people from all over could come to find rest and to worship her Son. She sent Juan Diego to the local bishop to ask him to build it. Juan made several visits to the bishop and each time, he turned him away. Finally, he told Juan Diego not to come back unless he brought some kind of sign from the Virgin. The bishop wanted proof that Juan was really being visited by our Heavenly Queen.
Juan Diego asked Mary for a sign to take to the bishop and she told him to pick some roses that were growing there. (These roses typically did not grow in Mexico in that time of year.) Then, she gracefully and with much care arranged them in his tilma (his shirt or cloak). Holding them carefully, Juan Diego returned to the bishop and opened his tilma, spilling the roses to the floor. Much to his surprise, on his shirt where Mary had arranged the roses so lovingly, was the image of the beautiful Virgin herself!
This image still exists and is displayed at a grand basilica in Mexico City where people from all over the world come to worship God and to honor His mother.
Take a moment to reflect on these words of Mama Mary, spoken so long ago to San Juan Diego. They still resound from Tepeyac Hill.....as if she is speaking to each of us, her youngest and dearest children:
"LISTEN. PUT IT INTO YOUR HEART, MY YOUNGEST AND DEAREST SON, THAT THE THING THAT FRIGHTENED YOU, THE THING THAT AFFLICTED YOU IS NOTHING: DO NOT LET IT DISTURB YOU: DO NOT FEAR THIS SICKNESS NOR ANY OTHER SICKNESS, NOR ANY SHARP AND HURTFUL THING. AM I NOT HERE, I, WHO AM YOUR MOTHER? ARE YOU NOT UNDER MY SHADOW AND PROTECTION? AM I NOT THE SOURCE OF YOUR JOY? ARE YOU NOT IN THE HOLLOW OF MY MANTLE, IN THE CROSSING OF MY ARMS? DO YOU NEED SOMETHING MORE? "

We're Back
We have returned safely from Mexico. We had some pretty amazing experiences! Please know that we prayed for all of you and your intentions at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and in each church; at every Mass; and while we traveled. May God bless each of you for your prayers and support for our trip as well!
