Our high school guys went
to Mass together yesterday and then spent the day playing soccer, laser tag, and eating pizza. Here's a really great pic of the group.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!
Trip to Butler's Orchard Rescheduled Due to RainBummer! We will not be having youth group tonight...November 14th. However, we will be going to the Orchard for our hayride and bonfire next Friday (November, 21st) at 7:00pm.
You were asked to bring canned food items for our pantry. Please drop them off at the church hall before Monday because our pantry is in great need.
In the event of rain next Friday, we will still have youth group in the school cafeteria.

Hayride, Bonfire, Music, and S'More's.... Woo Hoo!!
Yep! That's right.
We will not be having our regularly scheduled high school youth group meeting this Friday (November 14th). Instead, we will be meeting at Butler's Orchard in Germantown, MD for some Fall fun.
Time: 7:00pm- 10:00pm at the Orchard
Cost: Please bring at least 5 canned food items for St. Martin's Pantry
Parents should drive you to and from the Orchard.
Dress warm and come hungry!

Labor Day Parade
On Monday, September 1st we will participate in the Gaithersburg parade. Please wear any red youth group t-shirt (WYD, Benedict XVI or Pro-Life). You should arrive at the Girard business center in Old Town by 10:45am. We will be meeting in the blue zone (same place as last year) on the parade route. Navigate to Gaithersburg's website to see a map of the route and to get more information.

next Friday we're going to a basketball game
We will not have youth group at the Fr. Meyer House on May 9th. Instead, we will meet at 7pm at Watkins Mill High School for a basketball game between the DC Hoods ( a team of priests and seminarians) and some local talent from St. John's and Mother Seton.

Stop by after Mass or between 10:00am and 3:00pm on the following Sundays to buy delicious hotdogs, sodas, and chips. All proceeds will benefit the youth who are going to World Youth Day in Sydney Australia this Summer.

What a weekend for St. Martin's youth!!!
On Saturday, we gathered prayerfully in front of a local abortion clinic to pray for an end to abortion; the conversion of abortion doctors; and for help for mothers facing unplanned pregnancies. On Monday night, we heard a talk from the national chastity speaker Angie King. We also hosted two concerts and featured performances by Tony Melendez, the Lee Roessler Band, and our very own Saving7Seven! Tuesday, we concluded our activities by joining thousands of pro-life Americans in Washington, DC for the March for Life. This was a fantastic weekend jam packed with exciting music, inspiring witness talks, and powerful moments of prayer.

Hayride
So this past Friday, Nov. 16, St. Martin's Youth Group went on a hayride at Butler's Orchard in Germantown.In a sneak maneuver, Erin made the boys and girls ride in separate wagons. While nobody was excited about about the arrangement, apparently nobody was shocked, either. Yet, somehow, the boys managed to have fun - laughing, joking around, trying to throw apples at the girls, and so on. Happily for the girls, apparently most of the boys throw like girls. A LOT of hay got down people's shirts, shoes, ears, and... well other places too. On the boys' wagon, a fistfight nearly developed over where to best put the hay, but hey, all's well as end's well, and everyone got back in one piece and laughing.
After the hayride there was a bonfire. It's amazing how many things 15 year olds can come up 
with to burn. Those glowsticks get REALLY bright in fires, and potato chips really get a big blaze going. A lot of hotdogs fell into the fire too, and some marshmallows never made it to their designated graham-cracker-and-chocolate destinations. We had two guitarists and a number of vocalists. Erin decided to get the yoots to play a game she descriptively entitled, "Run across the rutted field at night as quick as you can" game. Normally youth ministers try to prevent such nonsense, but Erin's guardian angel works overtime and so nobody turned an ankle. It got really cold at night, so we had fun seeing how close we could get to the fire without falling in. Some kids tried to hover over the fire, but neither their powers of levity nor their sanctity sufficed to hold them in place - most of them fell, but none of them landed in the fire.
